At First Round, Nate helps bring to life the stories and insights from startup founders and operators across the firm’s channels. Prior to joining First Round, he was Marketing Partner at Foundation Capital. Before that, he was an early employee at Notion—where he built and led the company’s content marketing function over his four-year tenure.

Nate takes an interdisciplinary approach to marketing, having spent time in many functions at companies of different types and sizes: PR, comms, editorial, product marketing, lifecycle, and more. Previously, he was a magazine journalist and bartender. Nate received an MFA in Creative Writing (nonfiction) from the University of San Francisco, and during that time, wrote a New York Times essay.
