Bonnie Porter
"People and relationships have been at the center of my career, which naturally led me to an interest in recruiting and people ops. After participating in First Round's Recruiter Track program, I found my calling helping facilitate connections between founders and their dream candidates. My unconventional path through nonprofit fundraising and startups gives me a unique perspective on what makes early-stage hiring successful."
I love solving puzzles and am so grateful to have a career making the connection of the perfect fit job for a candidate and an amazing team member for a founder. Having worn many hats myself, I understand how critical this flexibility is for early-stage startup hires.
In her role at First Round, Bonnie helps source amazing candidates that fit seamlessly with up-and-coming startups. She joined the team after participating in First Round's Recruiter Track, a first-of-its-kind program for folks looking to make a career switch into tech recruiting.
Prior to First Round, Bonnie worked at Buffer, where she got her first introduction to the world of startups. There, she appreciated the opportunity to wear many different hats and build relationships with customers and community members.
She began her career in the nonprofit world, spending many years fundraising for organizations ranging from hospitals to animal welfare organizations. Her experience in corporate and foundation relations and prospect research, though an unconventional path into tech and VC, helps her better understand the importance of relationship-building and finding the right fit.
Bonnie's people and connection-making skills come naturally — she comes from a family of teachers who showed her the fun of relationship-building from a young age.
